1967 Gibson ES-355 TDSVC
I’m selling my early 1967 Gibson ES-355, a spectacular guitar that is becoming increasingly difficult to find in this level of originality. It was previously listed at ATB a couple of years ago for £11,995.
The guitar retains its original pickups, original pots, original frets with their original nibs, original hardware and original case. No repairs have been carried out.
The finish is original and shows the expected wear for a guitar approaching 60 years of age, including finish checking, minor scratches and playwear. Nothing significant or structural.
The main modification is that the guitar has been converted from stereo to mono. It currently has Emerson capacitors fitted while retaining the original pots. All original components removed during the stereo-to-mono conversion are included with the guitar, making the modification reversible.
The pickguard currently fitted is a replacement. The original celluloid pickguard is also included, although it has suffered the deterioration commonly associated with this material over time and is no longer usable.
The guitar retains its original gold Grover Patent Pending tuners.
The ABR-1 bridge is currently fitted with Nylon saddles from Schwarz in St Helens.
Features and originality:
- Original pickups
- Original potentiometers
- Original frets with nibs
- Original hardware, although the bridge was replaced at some point and an insert is present where the ABR-1 bridge post sits
- Original case
- Original finish
- Stereo-to-mono conversion
- Emerson capacitors
- Replacement pickguard currently fitted
- Original celluloid pickguard included
- All original components removed during modifications included
This is a guitar with real history and the honest signs of age you would expect from an almost 60-year-old ES-355.
No trades, please.
Detailed photographs and videos of the guitar, electronics, case and all original components can be provided to any genuinely interested buyer.
