The rubber grommet (guide bushing) has been replaced with a genuine part. It is essential to replace it, as leaving the old one in place will damage the surrounding finish. If you use it without the replacement installed, the metal will eventually wear down, preventing the lid from closing properly.
The serial numbers on the internal components match those of DM-2's I've owned that dates to May 1981, the very first month of production.
Although the batch number sticker is missing from the battery compartment, there are no signs that one was ever applied or subsequently removed. It is therefore possible that this unit originally had a stamped serial number that has since worn off.
