Vintage Suzuki 1917-1920 Made in Nippon 3/4 Violin
Vintage 100 year old+ Suzuki ¾ Violin
Beautifully set-up and ready to play. This Made in Nippon S trademark was handmade between 1917 and 1920 in the famous Masakichi Suzuki workshop. This is a high grade ¾ model with real inlaid purfling, ebony fingerboard, and a tight grained top. Suzuki used beautiful Hokkaido “Ezo Matsu” slow grown, high altitude spruce tops, Japanese Maple back and sides, and African Ebony for the fingerboard and pegs for their model 4 and 5, and these pre-war, high-grade violins are sought after for their exceptional craftsmanship, playability and tone. The highly-flamed neck has a bit of an olive hue to it (hard to capture in pictures, but a distinctive characteristic that places the violin between 1917 and 1920). There are no cracks, splits, separations, or even major dings or scratches. It is remarkable to think that this instrument is over 100 years old. It was very well cared for. Comes with a hard case, two bows and its original ebony tailpiece (was replaced with a lightweight tailpiece with fine tuners). Good luck!
