Up for sale is this vintage 1967 Gibson Melody Maker D electric guitar. A great example of an affordable, vintage Gibson instrument, this one is going to make someone very, very happy...

This guitar is all original with the exception of the removed and missing Vibrola tailpiece, as is common with these instruments. The original Japanese tuners are still present and intact and, along with the later '66 pot codes, are a sure sign of a '67 Gibson instrument. The original cherry finish is in nice condition but does show wear including nicks, dings, scuffs, scratches, and checking. The most serious of the finish wear and issues is the fact that there are several dings on the back of the neck that can be felt while playing (including one larger one towards the neck joint, pictured) as well as some strap burn on the back of the neck (pictured). While they are indeed noticeable, they haven't seemed to bother any of us around the office

This instrument has just been gone over by our tech who cleaned it up, polished the frets, oiled the fretboard, sprayed out the electronics, installed a fresh set of strings, and performed a set up. It's a very good playing guitar with comfortable, low action all the way up the neck. He did note that the original frets show heavy wear and divoting in the first few positions which lead to some fret buzz, especially if you're heavy handed. He also noted that the high E string does seem to want to choke out on bends on the last few frets towards the body. If you're a perfectionist, this one might not check the box. If you understand vintage instruments and that they generally have a few quirks, it's a very fun guitar. The original frets could probably be leveled once, as they still retain enough height to do so. All of the electronics work exactly as they should and it's a great sounding guitar.

The original softshell Gibson case is included and is in nice condition for its age. The lid for the case pocket has come loose and the Gibson badge is missing but, other than that, it's sturdy and all of the latches and hinges are present and work as they should.
