This design makes it incredibly comfortable to play, whether you're using it as a tom or an auxiliary snare, because the widened rim prevents accidental stick clicks on the plastic housing. It is fully dual-zone, meaning you can assign separate sounds to the head and the rim, and it provides an excellent, realistic stick rebound that is quiet enough for apartment or late-night playing.
