An exceptional example of Sansui’s legendary late-1970s high-powered stereo receivers, the G-7700 delivers an impressive 120 watts per channel into 8 ohms, stunning vintage styling, and that unmistakable classic Sansui sound.

This is NOT your typical 45-plus-year-old receiver that’s simply been plugged in and listed as “working.”

This particular G-7700 has undergone extensive hands-on electronic servicing, component-level troubleshooting, mechanical restoration, and electrical testing.

The time, care, and attention invested in this receiver go far beyond a basic cleaning or quick functionality check.

🔧 EXTENSIVE SERVICE & RESTORATION PERFORMED:

✅ Amplifier Driver Board (F-2980)

• Electrolytic capacitors replaced.
• Extensive component-level troubleshooting and testing.
• Output transistors removed and individually tested.
• Driver transistors individually tested.
• Emitter resistors and associated circuitry checked.
• Left-channel amplifier fault identified and corrected.
• Speaker protection relay operation restored and verified.

✅ Equalizer & Digital Power Supply

• Equalizer circuit board recapped.
• Digital power supply circuit board recapped.
• Associated circuitry inspected and tested.

✅ Digital Frequency Display Restoration

• Diagnosed and repaired malfunctioning digital frequency display.
• Replaced the defective display controller IC with a functioning original Sansui-era donor component.
• Installed an IC socket arrangement for the replacement controller.
• Installed a new oscillator crystal.
• Restored proper digital frequency display operation.

✅ Switch & Potentiometer Restoration

• EVERY front-panel switch and potentiometer individually removed, cleaned, serviced, and reinstalled.
• Volume potentiometer additionally disassembled to correct a mechanical misalignment between its left and right channel wipers.
• Restored proper stereo volume tracking and channel balance.
• Both channels now mute correctly at minimum volume.

✅ Tuner Service

• Tuning dial cord mechanism serviced and reinstalled.
• Tuner dial alignment performed.
• AM/FM tuning and digital frequency indication tested.

✅ Amplifier Testing & Calibration

• Extensive transistor, diode, resistor, and circuit testing performed.
• Power supply operation and DC rail voltages verified.
• Amplifier DC offset and idle bias carefully adjusted after warm-up.
• Protection relay verified during sustained operation on normal AC power.
• AUX, PHONO, and tuner operation tested.
• Both amplifier channels producing clean, balanced audio.

🎯 FINAL BENCH MEASUREMENTS:

DC Offset:

• Left: +1.6 mV
• Right: +1.4 mV

Output Stage Bias:

• Left: 5.2 mV
• Right: 5.2 mV

Both channels are within the manufacturer’s specified adjustment tolerances.

These measurements were taken following warm-up and final calibration, NOT immediately after switching the receiver on.

🎵 PERFORMANCE

This G-7700 sounds absolutely fantastic!

Both channels are strong, clean, and balanced. The volume control tracks correctly, and the protection relay engages and remains engaged during operation.

The receiver’s beautiful digital display is fully operational.

📸 COSMETIC CONDITION — PLEASE READ

The one known issue is cosmetic damage to the original wood-veneered top cabinet.

Two of the wooden ventilation slats have been broken. Most of the original pieces are included and could be used in a cabinet repair.

The damage is cosmetic and does not affect the receiver’s operation.

Please examine the photographs carefully.

I have intentionally preserved the original cabinet rather than attempt to conceal the damage with a questionable cosmetic repair.
