Rickenbacker 4001C64 LEFT HANDED 2009 - Mapleglow
Rickenbacker 4001C64 Reissue Bass 2009 (Week 29) Mapleglow-RARE from the last batch ever made!
For your consideration is one cool bass and one that is soon to be lost to history. In 2009, Rickenbacker discontinued this model in left handed and it appears now the 4001C64 model in any configuration has been retired to their “Legacy Guitar” category. I am the original owner and this particular bass was ordered in 2006 and completed in 2009, at the end of the 4001C64 left handed production run. In short, this is one of the last leftys made. This is an opportunity to be like, sound like and groove like Sir Paul!
This 2009 Rickenbacker 4001C64 features a maple body and neck with a rosewood fingerboard, finished in a beautiful Mapleglow. Equipped with its original electronics and dual single-coil pickups, it delivers the distinctive punch, growl, and bright attack that Rickenbacker basses are known for. The comfortable D-shaped neck and 33.25" scale length round out this classic design.
From Liverpool in 1963 to the present day, this instrument meticulously recreates the greatest ancestor of the industry standard bass guitar. It is authentic in every detail, even to the ‘horseshoe’ bass pickup of 1931. A fully laminated neck with striped headstock runs the full length of the body for unparalleled tone and sustain. The only concession to modern technology has been a redesigned dual truss rod system permitting round wound strings as standard.
This exceptionally versatile bass is in great playing condition and excellent cosmetic condition. There are no dings, dents, or buckle rash. This bass was never gigged, only gently used in my smoke free studio, then immediately cleaned and returned to its case. The bass is all original except it has been expertly refretted, including fret board levelling and set up by none other than Dan Erlewine’s shop in Athens Ohio. For those of you who don’t know, Dan is one of the top luthiers in the county and the only person I would trust to do such an important job. The guitar is over 17 years old (its birthday is the 29th week of 2009) and shows little, if any sign of wear.
This is a quality bass and really stands out among solid bodies, with the build quality and tone that proves its worth. It has a strong tone that resonates: just right for blues and of course, good old rock and roll. As a lefty player, you know that Rickenbacker does not produce a wide variety of left-handed instruments and any ordered has a long wait time.
You are buying a great sounding, well-made solid body bass that is as much art as it is a tone machine. Equally important, you are buying history.
Comes with the original silver tolex hard shell case and case candy from Ric. Please note: The latch on the right side is functional; however, the spring mechanism which operates the unlatching button has been dented and does not work. (see last photo) The latch will open but in order to secure the latch, you have to manually move the unlatching return button back by hand. The center and left side latches work fine.
