1999 Gibson Thunderbird IV Bass – Rare Yamano Export (Ebony Finish w/ Rare Ebony Fretboard)

Up for sale is a phenomenal and highly collectible 1999 Gibson Thunderbird IV in classic Ebony, featuring a rare factory Ebony fretboard.

This particular instrument is a Yamano Export model, which I personally purchased in Japan. For those unfamiliar, Yamano was Gibson’s Japanese distributor renowned for demanding the absolute highest quality control, premium wood selection, and flawless finishes from the Gibson USA factory.

Key Specifications & Features:

Year: 1999 (A fantastic era for Gibson USA builds)

Finish: Ebony (Gloss)

Fretboard: Rare Ebony (Dark, smooth, and much tighter grain/snappier response than standard rosewood)

Origin: Made in USA (Yamano Japan Market Export)

Electronics: 100% original, untouched wiring, and powerful original Gibson humbuckers.

Case: Includes the original Gibson USA black hardshell case with the iconic plush pink lining. All latches work perfectly.

Condition:

Excellent condition for a 27-year-old instrument. It has been incredibly well looked after, showing only very minor, light surface marks/swirling consistent with careful use. No touch ups, breaks, cracks, or repairs. Just some light honest play wear.

100% perfect working order. The neck is straight, the truss rod functions exactly as it should, and the frets have plenty of life left. It plays beautifully with low action and that classic, thunderous low-end growl.
