Circa 1890 banjo made by William Gerke of Providence, Rhode Island. Mahogany neck and dowel, probably maple pot, laminated, ebony overlay. 10 inch rim, 24 inch scale length, overall length about 32". All original hardware and patented Gerke tailpiece. New skin and nylgut strings. This is a great little banjo, sounds and plays great!
I'm going to make a correct style maple bridge for it, and try to find a case that will fit. It's smaller than most banjos.
