The Boss DS-1 Distortion is perhaps the single most recognisable distortion pedal in the history of electric guitar — a deceptively simple orange box that has been responsible for an incalculable number of iconic tones across rock, grunge, alternative, and beyond. Its warm, cutting, and endlessly tweakable character has made it a perennial favourite from bedroom players to arena stages alike. There is a reason this pedal has been in continuous production since 1978 — it simply works, and it works brilliantly.
