Certainly not one we see every day in the States, or outside of Vietnam as far as I understand. This was a project guitar I grabbed on a whim awhile back, but I’ve got too many projects around so I’d rather someone else take a shot at fixing it up. I don’t know much of it, but it’s a traditional Vietnamese Phim Lom guitar. They are traditional folk instruments in Vietnam, characterized by the extreme fret scalloping, which allows for a unique vibrato technique. Cao Loung is the music it is often used for, there are some interesting clips around YouTube if you’re curious. There are various cracks, some of which are attempted repairs by previous owner. The neck also has a good amount of back now. I would just like to see someone else either get it functioning, or just practice some luthiery skills without worrying about damaging a more valuable instrument. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, and I’ll try to answer what I can. It’s sold as is, as a project. Thanks for looking!
