2020 Epiphone SG Standard – Alpine White – Upgraded Locking Tuners – Gator Hard Case

A really striking example of Epiphone’s SG Standard in Alpine White, dating from 2020 and presented in excellent condition with a quality brown Gator hard case included.

Part of Epiphone’s hugely successful Inspired by Gibson range, this generation of SG was a big step forward for the brand, combining the traditional mahogany construction and familiar ’60s styling with upgraded electronics, hardware and a much more convincing Gibson-inspired headstock shape.

The combination of the Alpine White finish, black full-face pickguard and nickel hardware works brilliantly on this one. It’s a great-looking SG and, aside from the natural ageing and tarnishing to some of the metalwork, it has been very well looked after.

At its heart is the classic SG recipe: a mahogany body and mahogany neck, with an Indian Laurel fingerboard, 22 medium-jumbo frets and a 24.75” scale length. The ’60s SlimTaper neck keeps it quick and comfortable without feeling excessively thin, making it equally at home with rhythm work, blues, classic rock or heavier playing.

Electronics are handled by a pair of Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers, designed to give that familiar PAF-style character with plenty of warmth and body from the neck pickup and more bite and definition at the bridge. Traditional twin volume and twin tone controls keep everything familiar, while CTS electronics were another welcome upgrade on this generation.

This guitar has also been fitted with upgraded locking machine heads, a useful improvement over the standard setup and a nice addition for quicker string changes and dependable tuning stability.

Condition is excellent overall. There are only very light signs of use, with some minor playwear and light fretwear consistent with careful ownership. The most noticeable cosmetic ageing is the tarnishing and dulling to the nickel hardware, particularly around the pickup covers and bridge area, which we’ve photographed clearly. There are also a few light surface marks to the headstock face visible under direct lighting, but nothing significant.

Structurally it is excellent, plays beautifully and everything works exactly as it should.

It comes with the pictured brown Gator hard case, which is a valuable upgrade over the gig bag normally associated with guitars in this price bracket.
