Telefunken Elektroakoustic AK477 (PAIR)

Telefunken AK477 (pair)

The AK477 is a custom multi-pattern large diaphragm tube condenser microphone that we designed with Telefunken a few years ago. I was looking for a great sounding mic that was very close sonically to a U47 and M49 without breaking the bank.  It is based on a Telefunken AK47-MkII with a Telefunken M7-style capsule, upgraded power supply, upgraded cable, and upgraded case. It is a very special mic offering nine polar patterns controlled from the power supply. They folks at Telefunken hit a home run with this mic!

There were only twelve of these built. These are Serial #001 and #007.  #001 was the first, and my personal mic for a short time while I evaluated it. Then I sold it to my grammy-winning / platinum record-winning producer friend.  He loved it so much, he bought another - (serial # 007), and sent some of his friends to me to purchase their own.

In 2012-2014 they sold (actual price) for $3,750 each plus tax.

I am offering these together as an extremely rare pair. There are no other pairs of AK477s anywhere in the world. They have both lived in a smoke-free private professional studio their entire lives and have been used on countless professional recordings.

Both of these mics have been extremely well taken care of, and are in excellent to mint condition, as are their carrying cases.  They work perfectly.  They were recently sent to Telefunken Elektroakoustik for a thorough evaluation and found to be in excellent condition, not in need of any repairs or adjustments.

TELEFUNKEN TECH NOTES:

“Our technician completed the evaluation and provided the following updates. Both of your mic systems sound good. We did not find any problems, so there are no suggested repairs.

Your microphone systems passed final testing with our studio manager. Everything operates to factory specifications.”  (Telefunken invoice in photos)

They will be professionally packed for shipping and sent with full insurance.
