The Gibson ES-137 Classic is one of Gibson's more interesting modern-era electric guitars: a single-cutaway, semi-hollow instrument that combines the elegance of a traditional Gibson archtop with the punch, sustain and familiar humbucker sound associated with a Les Paul.
Produced in Gibson's Memphis factory from 2002 through to early 2010s, it occupies an appealing middle ground between a traditional jazz guitar and a solidbody rock guitar. It has a semi-hollow body shape akin to the ES-175 but with a solid mahogany centre-block similar to the ES-135 or ES-335. The maple neck has a rosewood fingerboard with trapezoidal inlays, providing a familiar yet modern feel.
This 2004 example, with Blueburst finish, is in fabulous condition. The frets and fretboard are in great shape with no real visible wear – the body is free of scratches or dings but does have light swirl/polish marks. The guitar comes complete with its original Gibson hard case.
If you're looking for a vintage taste with a modern twist the ES-137 Classic could be the one for you.
