Blueberry Cough — AFT Preamp

$125

Based on the PedalPCB AFT Preamp, the Blueberry Cough uses an old Soviet MP38A germanium transistor to get that gritty, overdriven tube amp sound. Great for punk, garage rock, and dirty blues.

It's a simple one-knob preamp with a treble boost toggle. I usually leave the treble boost on. It gives the pedal some extra bite and really brings out that old-school punk sound.

Controls

- Volume: Adjusts output and pushes your amp harder.

- Treble Toggle: Switches between the standard preamp sound and a brighter, more aggressive tone.

- Footswitch: True bypass with blue LED.

Vintage Germanium Transistor

This one uses a vintage Soviet MP38A germanium transistor in a metal can package. Germanium was used in some of the earliest guitar effects and is known for its distinctive distortion characteristics.

The transistor is socketed, so you can easily swap it for other compatible germanium transistors and experiment with different sounds.

Custom Finish

Hand-finished metallic blue enclosure with purple highlights. Each finish is unique.

The Science Behind the Sound

The germanium transistor amplifies the guitar signal and introduces harmonic distortion as it gets pushed. The treble toggle changes the frequency response, adding more high end when engaged. Swapping transistors can change the gain and breakup depending on their electrical characteristics.
