Rectifier Standard Oversized 4×12 Cabinet – 1997 Celestion Vintage 30s – 444 Cones

A superb Mesa/Boogie Rectifier Standard Oversized 4×12 speaker cabinet, loaded with four British-made Celestion Vintage 30 speakers dating from 1997, all featuring the desirable 444 bass cones.

The Rectifier Standard is one of Mesa/Boogie's most recognisable cabinets, renowned for its substantial oversized enclosure, enormous low-end response and tight, aggressive character.

This particular example has an interesting speaker configuration, fitted with Celestion T3903 Vintage 30s rather than the Mesa-specific Vintage 30s more commonly associated with these cabinets.

Although not the Mesa OEM versions, these are still highly regarded British-made Vintage 30s from the 1990s, offering their own distinctive character and making this a particularly interesting combination.

Celestion Vintage 30 – T3903 – 1997

The cabinet is fitted with four Celestion Vintage 30 T3903 speakers, each with an 8-ohm impedance and carrying the 09FG date code, dating them to 1997.

The speakers also feature 444 bass cones, a particularly interesting detail that distinguishes these examples from other Vintage 30 variants.

The 444 cone specification is associated with Celestion's bass-resonance cone family, offering a different tonal character from the more familiar 1777 lead-cone designs.

Vintage 30s have become some of the most influential guitar speakers ever produced, particularly for heavier styles of music.

These 1997 British-made examples are particularly appealing to players who appreciate earlier Vintage 30 production.

Mesa/Boogie Oversized Construction

The Rectifier Standard Oversized 4×12 is considerably larger than many traditional British 4×12 cabinets, giving it a distinctive sound and response.

The substantial closed-back enclosure produces an enormous low end with plenty of depth and authority, while the Celestion speakers provide the articulation and midrange projection needed to keep things tight and defined.

Although designed primarily to complement Mesa's Dual and Triple Rectifier amplifiers, these cabinets also work exceptionally well with Marshall, Soldano, Peavey and numerous other high-powered valve heads.

The combination of an oversized Mesa enclosure and four British-made Vintage 30s delivers a powerful, focused sound with excellent projection.
