A bit more in depth about this receiver. The Marantz 2226B is a well-regarded vintage stereo receiver produced between 1977 and 1980, known for its warm sound, robust build quality, and classic aesthetic. Positioned as an entry-to-mid-level model in its range, it delivers performance that often exceeds its modest power rating. Key Features and Specifications Power Output: The receiver is officially rated at 26 watts per channel into 8 ohms, though some tests and user experiences suggest it delivers closer to 29 watts. This modest power makes it an ideal match for highly efficient speakers, such as certain Klipsch models. Sound Profile: It is highly valued by audiophiles for its rich, warm, and full sound signature, a characteristic often associated with Marantz gear of this era. Design and Build: It features the classic Gyro-Touch tuning wheel and a black-background dial face that many enthusiasts prefer. The unit is surprisingly heavy for its size (11.5 kg / 25 lbs) and immaculately finished, giving it a premium feel despite its original positioning in the product line. It was available with or without an optional wooden cabinet. Connectivity: The 2226B includes essential inputs, such as: Phono input for a turntable (moving magnet). Inputs for multiple tape monitors and auxiliary sources. Main in/Pre out jacks, a feature often absent on lower-tier models, allowing for use as a standalone pre-amplifier or power amplifier.
