Rare 1999 Gretsch G3967 Historic Series Archtop, jazz style small hollow body with Florentine cutaway in a beautiful gold finish. Excellent condition with original Gretsch bag.
This guitar has been upgraded with a hand built Curtis Novak "Johnny Smith" style floating mini humbucker pickup and a roller bridge. Original volume and tone controls on pickguard.
The only minor flaw is a little checking on the pickguard (see photos). Currently strung with flat wounds.
Factory Details:
- Aesthetic Styling: Features a striking, iridescent metallic gold finish, unique 1930s-style "cat's eye" soundholes, a thin waistline, and a sharp Florentine (claw-like) single cutaway.
- Body Build: Built with a laminated mahogany top, back, and sides (reminiscent of a deep Gibson ES-175 style body), measuring 15 inches at its widest bout and a deep 3 inches in body depth.
- Neck & Fretboard: Features a mahogany neck with a comfortable C-profile, a 24.75-inch scale length, and a bound 12" radius rosewood fretboard accented by simple dot inlays.
- Hardware & Electronics: Stocked with a wooden floating bridge, a chrome tailpiece marked with a "G", a single neck-mounted floating mini-humbucker pickup, and discrete volume/tone controls mounted directly to the pickguard.
- Sonic Character: Delivers a warm, mellow, and highly resonant tone. Because of its floating pickup construction, it possesses a bright, airy electric/acoustic vibe that mirrors a nicely miked acoustic guitar when plugged in.
