Gibson L-5 CES Natural (1997)
For sale is my wonderful Gibson L-5 CES Natural from 1997. This is a unique guitar with sensational quilted maple back and sides. The effect is utterly mesmerising and wonderfully three dimensional. The carved spruce top is also beautifully figured.
The neck is beautifully precise and enables an effortless low action - currently setup with 13s (D'Addario Chromes) for an authentic jazz sound. The original 57 Classic PAFs capture the full depth of tone and dynamics from the guitar. Neck 7.76, Bridge 7.68.
The guitar is in pristine condition and the hardware has a lovely aged patina that reflects its 30 years' of age. The guitar is currently fitted with a Faber locking bridge - with the original Gibson ABR also included in the sale. The switch has been replaced and the original is also included and could no doubt be refurbished if desired. The original cellulose tortoise shell pick guard has deteriorated beyond use due to natural off gassing. Although it can be included in the sale for posterity, the guitar boasts a beautiful custom made ebony pick guard as well as an acrylic pick guard in a burgundy swirl finish.
The guitar comes with its original hard case which is in excellent condition.
