This 2008 Orange 40th Anniversary Custom Shop Limited Edition guitar amplifier head, individually named "EDITH", is not a standard reissue. To celebrate 40 years of British tone, Orange's Custom Shop technical director Ade Emsley hand-built a strictly limited run of only 40 non-master volume heads worldwide. Instead of traditional assembly-line construction, every single one of these 40 units was built with a completely unique, point-to-point hand-wired circuit. Once the amp was built and its distinct tonal personality, response, and sag were evaluated, it was given a girl's name instead of a serial number.

"EDITH" was among the highly celebrated first units to leave the shop. EDITH is uniquely voiced to deliver some of the finest classic British rock crunch and power tube saturation imaginable. It has hand-wired Point-to-Point construction using premium components and Orange's patent-applied-for output transformers. It has a 30W (Class-A)/ 50W switch that allows you to change the power stage behavior, letting you push the amp into early, rich harmonic breakdown or maximize massive clean headroom. It has the Classic Orange vinyl wrap, a gold-ended vintage strap handle, gold beading, and the historic Plexiglas "Pics Only" front control panel layout. With only 40 "Girl’s Name" Custom Shop amps ever created, these rarely hit the open market. They represent the absolute pinnacle of Orange's build quality and are widely considered the most collectible modern amplifiers the company has ever released.

This guitar amp head has obviously been in storage a lot, and most likely never toured at all. I have had it in storage or set up in my home studio for about half of its lifetime. It is in excellent mechanical condition, but the Tolex has picked up small discolorations, scratches, scuffs, and a couple of tiny cuts during moving and storage, as shown in some of the pics, so I rate it as VG+.

EDITH is paired with a matching stock Orange PPC212 2x12" Speaker Cabinet (Serial: PPC212-12208-0121), with twin 12" Orange "Voice of the World" drivers and two 16 ohm Celestion 30 speakers. This cabinet is designed with rugged, high-density Baltic birch plywood and skid feet to structurally couple the cabinet to the stage for a tight, thunderous low-end response. My cabinet had a second Orange 2X12” cab on top in my studio, which you can easily get for about $500 used on Reverb, to get the classic 4X12’ cabinet roar. There are four faint circles on top of the cabinet where the feet of the upper cab were, as shown in a pic.
