This is the Kenwood KT-917 FM tuner that people dream about. I believe it is the only Champagne/Gold face Kenwood KT-917 in North America and massively upgraded. It is near museum quality condition.

The KT‑917 is universally regarded as a tour‑de‑force, a pinnacle of FM tuner engineering, and easily in the top 3 most desired vintage tuners. It is the best analog tuner ever built by Kenwood. That's in stock form! It has features normally found in military or commercial broadcast receivers, not consumer tuners. The KT‑917 uses a 9‑gang tuning capacitor, which is unheard of in consumer tuners. This gives it exceptional sensitivity and selectivity — better than almost any other tuner. The SAW filters and pulse‑count detector mean the tuner does not drift and does not age like conventional tuners. It has 90 dB signal‑to‑noise ratio, which is astonishing for FM.

Then I had Joseph Chow of Components Plus do the full mod/upgrade/alignment on this unit a few years ago. Cost a fortune, well over 1k. It came back like a completely different tuner with better frequency response, separation, and resolution. It has a completely silent background.

I don't think you will find a nicer KT-917 anywhere in the world.
