1983 Gibson CMT Flying V Cherry Sunburst - Heavily modified

1983 Gibson CMT Flying V (The "V') in Cherry Sunburst finish with OHSC (Heavily Modified) for sale!

Got this guitar as a Christmas present back in the mid 1990s with a Kahlar whammy tremolo system routed into the body. Original knobs were replaced with Gibson black speed knobs, truss rod cover wasn't original, bridge was replaced with japan ABR-1 bridge and tailpiece, and bridge pickup was replaced with a DiMarzio Super distortion humbucker in classic crème finish.

I decided to restore everything back to original specs as best as I could and had the Kahlar route repaired by a professional luthier and had him re-wire the electronics with new CTS pots. Also preformed a neck dress, but frets and dot inlays are all original. Neck pickup is the original Dirty fingers from the early 80s era. Original Gibson schaller tuners are still in working condition. Bridge was restore with a Gibson Nashville bridge and tailpiece. Amber knobs and the "V" truss rod cover are after market parts, but period correct. I added the creme Gibson poker chip on the pickup selector switch for more les paul like flare. Also put original Gibson posi-lock strap buttons on it to keep it period correct.

The guitar is over 40 years old and was heavily played as well as modified. See pictures for all cosmetic defects and overall condition. Lots of dings, scratches, finish checking and flaking, burn marks from soldering, and wear and tear damage from being a well loved instrument over the last 40+ years. The tolex on the back of the original 83 flying V case is completely gone. Needs to be sanded and refinished, or you can plaster it with stickers like I did on the top of the case.
