Up for sale is a truly unique piece of boutique pedal history: the Blackout Effectors Mantra Overdrive — Official Prototype #01.
Acquired directly from the original creator of Blackout Effectors (Kyle Wadsworth) in a trade, this is the very first prototype unit constructed during the development of the legendary Mantra Overdrive circuit. Now that Blackout Effectors is no longer building pedals, functional prototype #1 units from the brand are virtually impossible to find.
Key Details & Collector Features:
Provenance & Authenticity: Hand-signed and dated by founder Kyle Wadsworth on the inside backplate ("Feb 24, 2010") along with hand-written "Prototype #01" text.
Prototype Circuitry: Features the internal PCB labeled BLACKOUT EFFECTORS DIST PROTO, showing the original hand-wired layout and component selection prior to standard production runs.
Prototype Enclosure & Labels: Housed in an unpainted/prototype enclosure with hand-labeled control tags (B / T / G / V for Bass, Treble, Gain, Volume).
Complete Collector Package: Includes the original box hand-labeled "MANTRA PROTO #01" by the builder, as well as the original owner's manual/spec sheet.
Condition & Functionality:
Fully functional and sounds incredible.
The circuit features cascaded MOSFET and JFET gain stages with a Baxandall-style EQ, delivering rich, touch-sensitive overdrive.
Cosmetic condition is excellent as pictured, showing normal light wear consistent with a bench prototype.
