For sale is a pretty cool 1940’s or 50's Regal Brand (Lyon and Healy) Lap Steel. Regal instruments were owned and manufactured in Chicago and Indiana by the respected instrument maker, Lyon and Healy. They were one of the main manufacturers to produce special ordered House Brand instruments. This is labeled as Regal but was essentially the same Lap Steel that was produced for “House of Harper” brand and others. Chicago being a Mecca for instrument production during the 40’s and 50’s, (Kay, Harmony, Valco, National, Regal, and others) it wasn’t terribly unusual to see borrowed or crossover parts between Regal, National, and Valco.
Here is a Regal build that was considered a nice middle of the road instrument having National type tuners with solid Steel Buttons that work very smoothly with no pitting or bent shafts. A DeArmond pickup that is good and hot. It Has the original Rosewood floating bridge. This Lap Steel is completely original as it left the factory except for 2 screws that hold the Pickup cover on and pretty unique. It also has an original factory applied pick guard that is unusual for a Lap. It has a cool rectangular Hard Case with 2 large storage compartments, and all the latches appear to be brass plated and work well. The case still retains remnants of an original canvas cover. The guitar is clean with blond swirl pearloid (MOT) covering that is in excellent condition. Finally, it sounds great with the strong DeArmond pickup. $390.00 + Shipping
