For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1929-1930 Dobro Model 37.

This pre-war wooden-body resonator features a dark two-tone sunburst finish, slotted headstock, and round neck, with serial number 1206, which seems to place it around 1929, possibly 1930. Unlike the square-neck Dobros commonly associated with dedicated slide playing, the round-neck configuration was intended to encourage Spanish-style playing, making this an interesting example of Dobro's early resonator guitar designs.

The fingerboard has been modified, with all original dot position markers replaced and additional dots added in the upper registers, creating three markers per fret in those areas. The work is somewhat crude and a clear coat applied over the modified positions has aged noticeably, leaving those frets visually distinct from the rest of the fingerboard.

The guitar also has high action, consistent with its apparent history as an instrument used primarily for slide. Lowering the action for conventional fretted playing would require further work, with no guarantee of a satisfactory result. As it stands, the guitar may be best suited to slide playing or to a buyer interested in an early Dobro project.

Please note: this guitar is on consignment, so we cannot accept trades.
