Bell and Howell B&H Filmosound 385 1950's Austen Hooks Inspired

Made famous by Austen Hooks and Blake Mills, this is a fully converted Bell and Howell amp that uses the same transformer as the golden age of Fenders tweed line up. This Shumaucher power transformer is from the 37th week of 1959 (606937), and the Shumaucher output transformer is dated the 4th week of 1960 (798-6004) so think 5E3 Fender Deluxe in clarity and grind. This amp was used by Blake Mills, Taylor Goldsmith, Marcus Mumford, Jon Brion, Brandon Walters (Lord Huron), Keith Richards and various producers and guitar players. It's basically a very special "Deluxe" unlike most anything out there. Fully converted Bell & Howell Filmosound 385 amplifier. This amp sounds incredible, super crunchy tube sound with very tight mids and highs. Perfect for recording that monster guitar sound at a lower volume. It has a three prong power cord, a pentode/triode switch, Phase Inverter and balance switch, a no feedback switch, and a VVR knob, which is power scaling which adjusts the voltage throughout the amplifier as another method of lowering the volume (think brown-sound achieved through a power attenuator). In the front there is also a master volume (post phase inverter) which helps dial in the sweet spot of gain at appropriate volumes. I would highly encourage using a BrownBox or similar voltage reducer to protect this amp from the modern wall voltages. It truly preserves the tone and ensures the life of the components.
