Duesenberg is a guitar brand established in 1986 by German guitar designer Dieter Gelsdorf.

Drawing inspiration from jazz guitars designed in Germany during the 1950s, the brand continues to craft instruments that are as functional as they are stunningly beautiful.

These meticulously designed guitars incorporate Art Deco-style aesthetics—reminiscent of instruments like those from D'Angelico—exuding a sense of true luxury.

Above all, the exceptional tone produced by their proprietary, original-design pickups has captivated guitarists worldwide, earning the brand high acclaim not only in Germany but across the globe—including, of course, here in Japan.

The model featured here is a unique outlier within the Duesenberg lineup: the "Julietta"—a guitar defined by its fully solid body and a simple, bolt-on neck construction.

It evolved from the "Julia" model, which featured a chambered body, a "bizarre"-style aesthetic, and a complex array of switches and functions.

The Julietta takes that foundation and streamlines it, resulting in a versatile, universally accessible instrument.

With its original hardware—such as the pickguard and tremolo system—and the signature "Three Steps Ahead" design motif, it radiates a premium presence and that unmistakable Duesenberg flair.

Regarding its construction, the Julietta features a solid alder body. The large pickguard is a brilliant design choice—distinctive and unique, yet immediately appealing.

The body is thin—measuring approximately 40mm—making it exceptionally comfortable to hold and easy to handle.

While many solid-body Duesenberg models tend to be on the heavier side, the slim profile of the Julietta ensures a lightweight, player-friendly build.

It is equipped with a robust maple neck and a rosewood fretboard; the tonal characteristics of these woods blend perfectly, resulting in an instrument with a remarkably well-balanced acoustic profile. The pickups are also distinctive, featuring an original design with trapezoidal covers. In fact, they are the same pickups found on the flagship Starplayer TV model: a Domino P90 in the neck position and a Grand Vintage Humbucker in the bridge position. However, the control scheme differs—it utilizes a 5-way pickup selector. Despite the more accessible price point, this model actually offers a wider range of tonal possibilities than the Starplayer TV.

When the selector is positioned toward the bridge or neck, it engages the bridge or neck pickup individually. The remaining three positions all provide a mix of both pickups: starting from the bridge side, these are: P-90 + Humbucker (with coil-split and low-cut), P-90 + Humbucker, and P-90 + Humbucker (with coil-split). Unlike the Starplayer TV—where the mix position automatically engages a coil-split—this model allows you to blend the full, un-split humbucker sound. Furthermore, the inclusion of a low-cut option enables the kind of percussive, "cutting" rhythm playing characteristic of bolt-on neck guitars—a truly versatile and well-thought-out configuration!

Other components also feature original designs; for instance, the control hardware is mounted on a pickguard that echoes the "Three Steps Ahead" aesthetic found on the headstock. Notably, this model lacks a tremolo system—a rarity for Duesenberg—which ensures excellent tuning stability and ease of use.

While this guitar possesses a unique character, it is also remarkably versatile, making it a great fit for a wide range of guitarists. With its stunning looks, it is guaranteed to make a bold, stylish statement in the hands of a player who knows how to wield it!
