Duesenberg is a guitar brand established in 1986 by German guitar designer Dieter Gelsdorf.

Drawing inspiration from jazz guitars designed in Germany during the 1950s, the company continues to craft instruments that are as functional as they are stunningly beautiful.

These meticulously designed guitars incorporate Art Deco-style aesthetics—reminiscent of instruments like those from D'Angelico—exuding a sense of true luxury.

Above all, the exceptional tone produced by their proprietary, custom-designed pickups has captivated guitarists worldwide—earning the brand high acclaim not only in Germany but across the globe, including here in Japan.

The model featured here, "The Falken," stands out even within Duesenberg’s already distinctive lineup, thanks to its unique reverse-body design.

Unlike many of the brand’s semi-hollow offerings, The Falken features a compact, flat, solid body, making it exceptionally comfortable to hold and play.

While it is, in fact, a highly versatile instrument, its striking appearance suggests a natural affinity for heavier musical styles.

With its custom-designed hardware—such as the pickguard and tremolo system—and the signature "Three Steps Ahead" aesthetic, the guitar radiates a premium presence that is unmistakably Duesenberg.

The headstock design is a reversed version of the style found on other Duesenberg models.

In terms of construction, it utilizes a classic combination: a solid alder body, a maple neck, and a rosewood fretboard.

However, the set-neck construction and the inclusion of a substantial Bigsby-style tremolo system give the body a truly unique resonance.

The specific vibration and feel offered by this instrument make it an ideal choice for guitarists with a distinctive, individualistic style.

The pickups are also noteworthy; the guitar is equipped with Duesenberg’s original "Split/King Dual Coil" humbuckers.

Though the name may sound curious, it is actually quite literal—the pickups are designed specifically with coil-tapping (or coil-splitting) capabilities in mind. The 2-way toggle switches mounted directly onto the pickguard serve as coil-tap controls for each pickup ("PU Mode Switches").

The neck pickup is oriented with the adjustable pole pieces and the slug pole pieces reversed.

This configuration ensures that when the neck pickup is coil-tapped, the coil closer to the neck is utilized—delivering a sound that is both delicate and rich in midrange frequencies.

Naturally, the full humbucker tone is also excellent; it offers a surprisingly robust low-mid response—far beyond what one might expect given the wood specifications—making it more than capable of handling heavy musical styles.

The pickups feature "semi-open" covers—a practical design choice that prevents sweat or dust from entering and potentially causing a break in the internal wiring.

While this type of construction was occasionally seen on vintage Japanese-made guitars, here it is executed with a more premium, sophisticated aesthetic.

Other hardware components are also custom-designed; even the control knobs themselves are beautifully crafted.

The Bigsby-style tremolo is an original design, contributing to an overall look that is truly lavish and incredibly cool.

The strap pins are compatible with Schaller-style locking systems—a welcome feature for those who prefer using strap locks.

Though this guitar possesses a distinct, unique character, it is versatile enough to suit a wide range of guitarists.

With its stunning appearance, it is guaranteed to look absolutely fantastic in the hands of a player who knows how to wield it!

Don't miss this opportunity to make it yours.
