the Roland A-01 can wirelessly control music apps on an iPad or iPhone using Bluetooth MIDI, including playing notes from its keyboard and sending MIDI control messages.

The Roland A-01 is a compact MIDI controller with a built-in sound generator, designed to control external instruments, synthesizers and compatible music software.

What can it do with iOS apps?- Play virtual instruments: Use the A-01's keyboard to play compatible iOS synthesizers, pianos and other instruments.- Control apps wirelessly: Send MIDI notes and control messages over Bluetooth Low Energy MIDI.- Adjust parameters: Use its knobs and other controls to manipulate compatible app functions, depending on MIDI mapping.- Trigger sounds: Play drum samples, synth notes and other sounds in apps that respond to MIDI notes.

The important distinction is that Bluetooth MIDI is not the same as Bluetooth audio. The A-01 sends performance instructions to the iPad or iPhone, which generates the sound.

The A-01 module can send MIDI without a keyboard, but for normal piano-style playing use K-25m, a 25-key velocity-sensitive keyboard that docks with the A-01.
