De Gier is a Dutch brand founded in 1996 by Sander De Gier.

He originally focused on creating unique and modern bass guitars, but now his products primarily emphasize Fender-style designs.

While the brand was already highly regarded, the release of the BeBop, a JB-style model, has been so successful that it has kept him completely occupied with production.

Currently, in addition to Fender styles, they also offer unique models incorporating Gibson styles.

I first encountered De Gier at the Guitar Summit held in Germany in 2022.

At first glance, its presence filled me with anticipation, and that feeling was confirmed the moment I strummed the strings.

I was so overwhelmed by the incredible quality that I began negotiations.

Initially, sales to Japan were difficult for various reasons, but after persistent negotiations, we have now been able to begin sales. (It was truly amazing, and I absolutely wanted to introduce it to Japanese musicians, so I persisted quite a bit.)

Many other brands exhibited at Guitar Summit, and I spoke with various builders.

De Gier came up several times, and it seemed their skill was widely known.

Several builders even mentioned ordering custom basses from De Gier.

That's how highly regarded the brand is in Europe and America.

And I myself hold them in the highest regard.

This model is their specialty and highly acclaimed Fender-style P (PJ) bass.

This is the show model from Guitar Summit 2026.

The body is alder, and the fretboard is maple—a classic combination.

The bridge is a custom-ordered original style from ETS, and the tuning machines are GOTOH.

The color is Galaxy Black.

The excellent atmosphere created by this coloring is one of De Gier's characteristics.

The quality is truly high.

The block inlays are also finished in Black Pearl, giving it a chic, show-model feel.

De Gier uses various pickups depending on the individual instrument, but this one is equipped with a Lollar.

It's built with a simple passive circuit of volume and tone.

The sound is vibrant and lively, with plenty of bass, rich mids, and juicy treble.

It fulfills the range required of a bass in an ensemble and is a sound that resonates with bassists.

Despite being a 5-string bass, the 3rd and 4th strings have an open nuance, while the 1st and 2nd strings retain a delicious midrange.

It possesses a beautiful character from low to high without any negative elements.

The clear articulation of the low B and the trebly nuance are also appealing; not many builders can create a bass like this.

The excellent P pickup on the neck side, the crisp clarity of the J pickup on the bridge side, and the clear tone with a recessed midrange when mixed are all attractive.

● Warranty Against Defects

Basic Co., Ltd. provides a warranty against defects for products sold by the company.
