Excellent condition
The Ibanez AF75 is a full-size, archtop hollow-body electric guitar designed primarily for jazz, blues, rockabilly, and warm, clean electric tones. It has the classic look of a traditional jazz guitar, with a large hollow wooden body, f-holes, a floating-style bridge and tailpiece, and two humbucking pickups.
It's part of Ibanez's Artcore family, which is known for offering traditional hollow-body and semi-hollow electric guitars at accessible prices. The AF75 is especially appealing if you want the feel and appearance of a classic jazz guitar without paying boutique or vintage-guitar prices.
Key features and specifications
Body and construction
The AF75 has a full-hollow body, meaning there is no solid center block running through the body. Its traditional archtop shape and f-holes give it a resonant acoustic character when played unplugged and a warm, open sound when amplified. Current versions use linden for the top, back, and sides.
Pickups and tone
Two passive Classic Elite humbuckers provide a smooth, rounded tone with a full low end. The neck pickup is particularly suited to mellow jazz sounds, while the bridge pickup adds clarity and bite for blues, rockabilly, and more cutting lead tones.
Neck and playability
The current AF75 specification includes a set-in nyatoh neck, a bound rosewood fingerboard, acrylic block inlays, medium frets, and 20 frets. Its 24.75-inch scale length is shorter than a typical Fender-style 25.5-inch scale, which many players find comfortable for bends and chord work.
Bridge and controls
It features a Gibraltar Performer bridge and VT60 tailpiece. Four knobs provide separate volume and tone controls for the two pickups, and a three-way selector lets you switch between the neck pickup, both pickups, or the bridge pickup.
What does the AF75 sound like?
Jazz: Warm, rounded, smooth, and full-bodied. The neck pickup with the tone control rolled back is a good starting point for traditional jazz.
Blues: Expressive and woody, with a nice response to picking dynamics. It works well for blues leads, especially with mild overdrive.
Rockabilly and vintage rock: Bright, lively tones are available from the bridge pickup, particularly with a clean amplifier, a little reverb, or slapback delay.
One important consideration: because the AF75 is fully hollow, it can be more susceptible to acoustic feedback at high volumes and with heavy distortion than a solid-body guitar. It is generally best suited to clean or moderately driven sounds rather than high-gain rock.
Size and feel
The AF75 has a substantial body, measuring approximately 15¾ inches across and 3⅝ inches deep. That gives it the traditional, spacious feel of a jazz archtop, although players accustomed to thin-body electric guitars may need some time to adjust. The 24.75-inch scale and 43 mm nut width are typical of many traditional-style guitars
