2024 Kauffmann 63 S Alder - 3-Tone Sunburst Medium Aged | Dutch Custom Boutique Vintage ‘60s Reissue Stratocaster Rosewood Fretboard Relic 3.3kg | CoA
I am offering here a Kauffmann 63 S Alder 3-Tone Sunburst Medium Aged from 2024, a handcrafted custom reissue model of a 1963 Stratocaster from the Dutch boutique guitar forge Kauffmann Guitars featuring a select alder body (weighing only 3.3kg total!), bolt-on maple neck with “C” neck profile and 41.8mm TUSQ nut, premium rosewood fingerboard with white dot position markers and 21 medium jumbo frets, three hand-wound Kauffmann Custom SOW singlecoil pickups, as well as high-quality Gotoh Vintage tuners and Gotoh 510 Vintage Tremolo Bridge with bent steel saddles in an authentically aged Three Tone Sunburst Nitro high-gloss finish with nickel hardware and tortoise pickguard in mint condition including Kauffmann Deluxe Gigbag, manufacturer’s paperwork and professional setup with 10-46 Elixir Optiweb strings.
Under the Kauffmann Guitars label, Albert Deinum has been handcrafting custom guitars since 2010; these instruments have earned an outstanding reputation and are played by musicians around the world. Kauffmann Guitars combines the finest hardware and woods with a guitar-building approach that pays meticulous attention to detail, creating instruments that—in terms of appearance, tone, and playability—outshine even some American Custom Shop models—and all at an unbeatable price.
And this Kauffmann 63 S is no exception: it comes in the classic Medium Aged Three Tone Sunburst Nitro finish with a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard in the quintessential Stratocaster design, exuding that unmistakable ’60s vintage vibe at first glance. Beneath the thin body finish—marked by numerous crackles and signs of wear—the grain of the alder body shines through in places, and together with the factory-sanded maple neck and the subtly tarnished nickel hardware, it gives the impression that it was truly built in the 1960s.
Thanks to the lightweight alder body, weighing just 3.3kg, the instrument resonates incredibly well acoustically right from the first note—and once you plug it in, it takes a moment to recover from the sheer onslaught of wiry Strat tones. This is thanks to three top-of-the-line Kauffmann SOW S Custom single-coil pickups, lightly hand-wound, which elicit not only a bell-like, clear clean tone with plenty of overtones but also hot, dynamic distorted sounds.
A sound sample of a similar model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
With its medium-width “C”-shaped neck profile, the guitar sits very comfortably in the hand, and the direct contact with the wood (sanded neck back) gives it a premium feel.
Simply put, this guitar sounds and plays just as you’d expect from a top-tier Stratocaster. So if you’re looking for a Strat on par with Custom Shop models (and don’t want to break the bank), you’ve come to the right place!
