Ibanez 2630-AV Artist 1977 - 1979 - Antique Violin
Here it is, the legendary Ibanez FujiGen 2630.
Ibanez went all out with this model and you feel this guitar's massive calibre in every note you play. A beautiful ebony fretboard gives you stellar superfast attack. There's all the sustain in the world and fine ringing resonance to die for! And of course It looks stunning with the famous Ibanez CLOUD sitting behind the bridge and the abalone inlays on the fretboard.
The 2630 was only manufactured for a few years, one assumes it was simply too expensive to build.
The 2630 preceded the AS200 series designed by John Scofield but it's regarded as a way-superior instrument.
As played by Jens Larsen.
Humbuckers have been upgraded. (Easy to replace these with the original Super 80's)
Feel free to come and play this beautiful guitar, Ibanez' masterpiece.
The 2630 is an Artist series hollow body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1977. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen.
The 2630 features a full-sized, thinline, semi-hollow, double cutaway body design which is reminiscent of a Gibson ES-335. It has an arched curly maple top with ƒ holes and ivory multi-binding and a curly maple back on maple sides with a hard rock maple center block mated to a set-in rock maple neck with a 22-fret ebony fingerboard with ivory binding and pearl and abalone split block position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez Super 80 humbucking pickups with gold covers and individual volume and tone controls and a Tri-sound switch for the neck, ivory pickup rings, a Tune-o-matic style Gibraltar bridge with heavy brass tone block set into the body, a Gibraltar tailpiece with a scalloped ornament, a half bone/ half brass nut, Sure Grip knobs, and VelveTune tuning machines with ivory buttons.
For 1978 a tortoise pickguard was added.
The 2629 is a similar model with a birch body, dot fretboard inlays, no Tri-sound switch and chrome hardware.
The 2630 was discontinued in mid-1979. It was replaced by the AS200 which has pointier horns and repositioned pickup toggle and output.
