The Sales Pitch:

This is an awesome SG. The neck profile is more Les Paul than SG…it’s rounded and very comfortable in the hand. The build quality feels great and it’s been played…showing the nice chocolatey mahogany they were using in this period. I’ve really enjoyed owning this one because I love the look of an SG, but typically hate the wide flat necks. This one is nice and rounded, feels great to play, and sounds awesome with its single hot bridge pickup. This thing is definitely punching above its weight class.

The sale includes some cool original paperwork on GIBSON letterhead. It comes to you in an aftermarket case.

Condition Notes:

This is not a mint condition piece. This thing was played. There’s a lot of finish wear along the edges, worming, light impressions, etc. Ebony is a very unforgiving finish. That said, I think it looks awesome and feels nice and played in. The fretboard has been recently cleaned and oiled and the guitar set up.

  • There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs.
  • The headstock has a light scratch between the D and G tuners (see photo). There are small dings and edge wear as well, particularly on the top and back edges.
  • The truss rod works great and is exactly where you’d want it to be. The truss rod cover has a small split at the top hole, but is intact.
  • The tuners appear to be original and work great.
  • The nut appears to be original and is cut nicely.
  • The frets are in good shape with no crazy wear.
  • The ebony fretboard is dark and mysterious.
  • The body has marks, dings, danks, donks, scratches, pickwear. It’s got some finishwear along the bevel exposing that chocolatey mahogany.
  • The back of the neck is in excellent condition.
  • The back of the body has buckle worming and light scratching throughout.
  • The finish around the strap buttons have swirling marks around them from strapwear. The bottom strapbutton has some small areas down to bare wood.
  • The treble side horn has a dinger down to the wood.
  • The pickup and wiring appear to be original, but the chrome cover may have been added.
  • The knobs and other hardware appear to be original.
  • The generic hardshell case is decent quality and doesn’t have any bad smells or coffee stains.

The Fine Print:

Reverb limits us to 25 photos. I try to capture the “worst” things. I am happy to provide additional information / photographs upon request. Definitely reach out and ask if there's anything I missed or anything you want to know.

I am not interested in trades with Gen. Pop. I’m mostly trying to clear out physical space, but if you are local to me, an established shop, or a credible YouTuber and you have something vintage or weird that is cool, it doesn’t hurt to ask. If you’re not either of those things, it’s extremely unlikely, due to complexities of making a trade and security concerns around shipping an instrument to an unknown destination.

I try to price my gear fairly based on time I spend "researching the market". Please keep offers realistic.

I try to make sure all of my instruments are set up and play/sound great before listing them. That said, everyone has different preferences and sometimes traveling can cause movement. It would be best to expect to have to do a setup, but then be pleasantly surprised if you don’t.

All of my gear is sold as-is, but I won't leave you hanging if it arrives other than as-described / photographed. I will work to get your guitar safely packed and shipped out quickly (usually the same day or the next day). I take quick shipping and safe packing very seriously.

Much of my gear gets cross posted on my local FB marketplace for local sales. Please do not send me a message here on Reverb asking me to do a deal outside of Reverb. It is against their terms of service.
