The Roland D-5 is a 61-key velocity-sensitive digital synthesiser, released in 1989. It features Roland’s Linear Arithmetic (LA) synthesis engine, the same sound architecture as the D-10 and D-20, but without built-in effects. The D-5 is an 8-part multitimbral instrument and includes a basic 9-track pattern-based sequencer. It comes with 64 preset patches and 64 user memory slots for storing custom sounds. Connectivity includes an input, an output and a MIDI output, as well as stereo audio outputs and a headphone socket. Designed as a more affordable entry point into Roland’s D-series, the D-5 offers the LA synthesis experience in a simplified format.
