First introduced in 1960 as the Deluxe Model, it borrowed design elements from the Jazzmaster guitar. It was renamed the Jazz Bass as Fender felt that its redesigned neck—narrower and more rounded than that of the Precision Bass—would appeal more to jazz musicians.

This gloss black finished 2004 Fender USA Jazz bass comes with one very cool upgrade – the control panel has been replaced with an Audere Z-Mode Jazz Bass Pre-amp.

The Audere’s Jazz‑style preamp is designed to make a Fender‑style Jazz Bass feel and sound like a high‑end custom instrument – it is an active on-board system that reshapes the bass’s tone by switching the pickup loading impedance, giving three distinct voices (Low‑Z, Mid‑Z, and High‑Z), alongside flexible EQ and pickup‑mixing options.

The rest of the bass is all original and this US built Fender is in very good condition. There are some pick marks on the scratch plate (that is what it is there for) and there some small marks to the sides of the bass. The back does have some more marks but nothing we could capture on the pictures due to the gloss black finish. Fret board is in great shape and the frets only have the tiniest bit of visible wear. Comes complete with its original Fender hard shell case.
