1977 Gibson RD Artist Bass – Natural Finish – Original Moog Electronics – Original Hardshell Case

Selling my 1977 Gibson RD Artist Bass, manufactured in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on October 13, 1977 (serial #72867050). An early example of Gibson’s distinctive RD series, featuring the original pickups and innovative Moog-designed active electronics.

The bass is in very good vintage condition, retaining its original natural finish with no refinishing, neck breaks, or structural repairs. All electronics are fully functional, including the onboard compression and expansion features.

The far-left potentiometer shaft has a little play but functions normally. An aftermarket bridge is currently installed, but the original Gibson bridge and hardware are included, along with the original purple-lined Gibson hardshell case.

The RD Artist is a unique piece of Gibson history, known for its substantial construction, distinctive styling, and versatile tonal capabilities. Increasingly sought after by collectors and players alike.
