Just a fantastic hollowbody guitar! D'Angelico makes wonderful hollow and semi-hollow guitars. While they are well known for Jazz make no mistake about it, these guitars can rock and rock hard! This SS is a perfect example. Just plug it into your favorite distortion pedal, hit that A power chord, and feel that smile on your face. The Seymour Duncan Phat Cat Silencer pickups (professionally installed) take it to an even higher level! They love to play in the dirt! Note the stock Kent Armstrong pickups are included. Gorgeous flamed maple top/back and a lovely dark rosewood fretboard. Plus that amazing stairstep tailpiece!
Unlike the current SS models which have a center block, this Excel SS is fully hollow. It only has a bridge block. So the weight is a very manageable 6.8 lbs. There are two upgrades, first are the pearl Imperial buttons to help eliminate any neck dive. Second is a Faber ABR-1 bridge with bell brass saddles. The bridge really opens the guitar up both acoustically and plugged in. The guitar is in excellent condition with no major scratches or dings and no fretwear.
One of the big issues with D'Angelicos is they are sold mainly via big box stores, and they typically arrive with poor setups. Not so here. This guitar just received a full professional setup, polished frets, hydrated fingerboard, and fresh 10-46 Ernie Ball strings. So it is ready to play the moment it arrives.
I ship fully insured UPS. Only selling because I have gotten into Jazzmasters. You will not find a nicer and better sounding hollowbody at this price!
