RARE, Vintage 1967-1968 Coral Electric Sitar by Danelectro (possible pre-production prototype). Purchased from Vincent Bell's estate. Personally owned & played. Comes with COA and used guitar pick.
Collector & Player Grade, legendary piece of psychedelic rock history: an original late-1960s Coral Electric Sitar, designed by famous session guitarist Vincent "Vinnie" Bell and manufactured in New Jersey. This iconic model defined the sound of the late '60s, famously heard on hit tracks by bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Steely Dan, The Turtles, and The Box Tops.
- 100% Original Bombay Red Textured Finish
- Fully Intact 13-String Drone Array: Crucially, the entire drone string tracking system is perfectly intact. All small zither friction tuning keys and tracking pins are present and operational, saving you thousands in rare vintage hardware restoration.
- The "Sitarmatic" Bridge: Features the original, unmodified jagged chrome buzz-bridge assembly that gives the instrument its signature acoustic sitar twang.
- Original Lipstick Pickups: Equipped with all three classic Danelectro chrome "lipstick tube" pickups and the original control knob array.
- Vincent Bell Signature Accent: The clear plexiglass pickguard plate still houses the iconic white/gold silk-screened logo graphics.
- Original Case Included: Includes the exceptionally rare, original hard-sided rectangular plush-lined case.
- COA and original guitar pick included
Condition Report:
- Body & Neck: Beautiful vintage condition. The back of the neck and headstock display authentic lacquer finish checking ("crackling"). This is a natural aging process that validates the original finish has never been altered or oversprayed. There is minor chipping present along the sharp, stylized outer edges of the headstock wood from age-appropriate use.
- Hardware & Electronics: The chrome components are bright and clean. The bottom clear acrylic plate has some light cosmetic surface scuffing and minor marks but remains completely solid with zero structural cracks or fractures.
- Dimensions: Guitar measures 39" long x 13.5" wide. Case measures 42.75" long x 16" wide x 4.5" deep.
