For your USA-made, vintage-rockin' pleasure, I present this 1979 Guild S-300D in Sunburst. Besides the classic Les Paul, the S-300 body shape remains my favorite among electric guitars. It's unique and looks VINTAGE. The double cutaway allows great fretboard access, too, it must be said.

The 'D' in S-300D stands for DiMarzio. These bad boys came loaded with a DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge and DiMarzio PAF humbuckers in the neck position. This has the original pickups in it. There are plenty of dings and scratches on this nearly 50-year-old instrument, but it's in perfect working order. I originally bought this online from Guitar Center. Wouldn't you know? It was damaged in shipping on its way to me, with two hairline cracks appearing near the nut on the neck. I chose to keep it, at a modest discount, because I'm tight with the top luthier in Salt Lake City, and I knew he could easily fix and bolster it as good as new and it was a birth-year guitar for me. So, it has suffered neck damage, yes. The headstock hasn't been broken, though, let alone busted off. They were two hairline fractures running north and south near the nut and it's played like butter and sounded KILLER since my luthier fixed it up. It is fully stable and good for another 50 years.
