“Sultans of Swing,” “Down to the Waterline,” “Once Upon a Time in the West” — these are the songs, this is the unmistakable sound of Mark Knopfler, one of the most distinguished Strat players of the past decades. And when you think of this one-of-a-kind virtuoso, the image of his red Strat inevitably comes to mind. In 2010 Fender USA honored Knopfler by releasing the Mark Knopfler Signature model, which features several special design details. In keeping with the Dire Straits guitarist’s original instrument, the wood for the ’57-style ash body was selected based on weight and quality and a maple neck (7.25'' radius) in the style of the early ’60s was combined with a rosewood fingerboard and Medium-Jumbo frets. This particular model offers excellent resonance; the neck feels great in your hand and practically begs for brilliant leads à la Knopfler. The “Texas Special” singlecoils with their very fresh and lively tone convey the sound of this red icon to the amp in the best possible way and put a big grin on your face: bluesy, warm, and bell-like — exactly as you’d expect from Mark Knopfler! Of course this beautiful Strat with historical significance has been played frequently and extensively, as evidenced by various minor dents, slight scratches on the top and back, as well as light wear on the frets. Otherwise the guitar is in original top condition.
