Among the brand’s most iconic collaborations, its partnership with Steve Vai undoubtedly holds a special place. A true laboratory of ideas, the JEM series has made a lasting mark on electric guitar history by combining highly advanced design with an instantly recognizable aesthetic. The JEM77P-BFP is a superb example, featuring its famous Blue Floral Pattern finish, Monkey Grip and spectacular Tree of Life inlays.Designed for guitarists looking for speed, precision and expressiveness, this JEM features the remarkable five-piece Maple/Walnut Wizard Premium neck, reinforced with KTS Titanium rods. Its Maple fingerboard adorned with the famous Tree of Life inlays and its 24 Jumbo frets provide an exceptionally comfortable playing experience, while the JEM body shape allows particularly easy access to the upper frets. The iconic Monkey Grip, one of Steve Vai’s most recognizable design features, naturally adds to the instrument’s unique identity. The electronics are fully in keeping with this high-end design, featuring an HSH configuration combining two DiMarzio Gravity Storm pickups in the neck and bridge positions with a DiMarzio Evolution in the middle. This particularly versatile combination allows you to move from powerful, thick and singing tones to more incisive and precise sounds, while retaining excellent definition even with high gain. The Edge-Zero II tremolo perfectly complements the package, allowing highly expressive playing while providing excellent tuning stability. But this particular JEM77P-BFP has an additional feature that makes it especially appealing to collectors and enthusiasts of unusual instruments: it is a Factory Color Mismatch model. The body has a noticeably darker shade than normally seen on standard JEM77P-BFP models. This is not simply a difference caused by lighting or photography: this guitar genuinely has a distinctive appearance that sets it apart from standard examples. This factory color variation gives the instrument an even more distinctive character and makes this particular example truly unique. For Steve Vai fans and enthusiasts looking for something out of the ordinary, this is undoubtedly a particularly attractive detail: all the spectacular identity of the JEM is still there, but with an appearance that you will not find exactly replicated on another example. The JEM77P-BFP remains one of the most instantly recognizable guitars in the Ibanez range: a true Steve Vai signature model that is spectacular, exceptionally comfortable and remarkably effective. And with its darker-than-standard body resulting from this Factory Color Mismatch, this particular example goes one step further, offering something you simply do not come across every day: a JEM that is already highly distinctive, made truly unique by this particular factory color variation.
