This Eventide Omnipressor was purchased at the Walter Becker estate sale at Julien's, and the original receipt is included with the unit. According to John Neff, Walter's co-owner at Maui Recorders and his longtime engineer, it was a go-to secret weapon on most projects there. It was used on many Steely Dan albums, on Donald Fagen's Kamakiriad, and on other Walter-related projects. Walter liked it on bass and drums. John is a friend of mine and told me this firsthand.

The Omnipressor is one of the most unusual dynamics processors ever built. The Function knob sweeps from 10:1 expansion, through 1:1, to 8:1 and ∞:1 compression, and on to negative compression, where louder input gets quieter. It also has independent Threshold, Attack (.1 ms to 100 ms), and Release (1 ms to 1 sec) controls, plus Atten Limit and Gain Limit, a Bass Cut switch, and Line In/Out bypass. A big illuminated meter reads Input, Gain, or Output, with Output Cal at 0, +10 or +20 dB.

Specs
Model: Eventide Clock Works Omnipressor 2830
Serial: 760203
Voltage: 115V, captive power cord
Format: 2U rack mount
Connections (rear): balanced XLR in and out, barrier-strip signal in/out (Hi/Lo/Gnd), and voltage control in/out (¼" jacks and barrier strip)

Condition
It's working great. The power, gain, atten, and line LEDs all light, and the meter responds. Cosmetically it's honest vintage: the top cover has scratches and some leftover sticker/tape residue, and there's general wear on the chassis. The faceplate, knobs, and buttons are in good shape. A short jumper wire connects the voltage control output to the input on the rear terminals.
