The 2017 Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard True Historic is a remarkably accurate reproduction of one of history's most iconic electric guitars. This model is part of the True Historic series, developed by Gibson Custom with a strong emphasis on historical accuracy and meticulous attention to detail. The Vintage Cherry Sunburst finish on the flamed maple top gives this version the unmistakable look of an original 1959 "Burst."

Its construction adheres to the characteristic specifications of the 1959 Les Paul Standard, featuring a solid mahogany body with a carved maple top, a mahogany neck, and a rosewood fingerboard with signature trapezoid inlays. The neck features the full, rounded profile typical of an original 1959 Les Paul, while the 24.75-inch scale length and 22 frets provide a familiar playing feel. The hardware and finish are also based on original Burst models, including an ABR-1 bridge, aluminum stopbar, and Kluson-style tuners. Nitrocellulose lacquer and historically accurate plastic components further enhance the instrument's vintage character.

For its sound, the True Historic relies on two humbuckers, controlled by independent volume and tone knobs and a three-way switch. This setup delivers the combination of warmth, dynamics, and clear overtones characteristic of a fine Les Paul from this era.

The guitar is in excellent condition, though it has picked up a few minor dings on the top and body, as well as a slightly larger ding on the top's binding near the output jack. It is also noticeable that the red color of the body and neck has bled into the binding, so-called "bleeding." Otherwise, this Les Paul is a very clean instrument, ready to rock!
