The beautiful Yamaha SG-5A is a legendary vintage guitar from Japan’s "Eleki" boom, famously known among collectors as the "Flying Samurai" for its radical, asymmetric body shape.
With its four-digit serial number (8950), this instrument was built 1968 and comes from the sought-after early production era.
Are you looking for a rare piece of guitar history with an unmistakable space-age vibe and incredible retro appeal? This is your chance to own a pristine vintage instrument crafted by Nippon Gakki in Japan.

This all original icon has dings and scratches, as I’ve tried to capture on the photos, but is still in great condition. The electronics are fully functional, providing a tonal palette that spans from bright, jangly 60s surf rock to thick, punchy midrange growl when utilizing the unique pickup blender. The combination of the zero fret and the roller bridge ensures excellent string action and distinct playability that stands out in any collection.
A great ”extra candy” is the quite legendary spelling mistake on the balancer knob, Barancer. This was soon corrected.
These guitars in original edition are pretty rare, and especially the ”barancers”.
