Vintage Prototype Ribbon Mic
We purchased this microphone from an avid mic collector and he described it to us as a Prototype "Eastern Sound" ribbon mic. After a lot of research we believe he was referring to the Eastern Sound Co. (originally based out of Chelsea, Mass) who was a specialty audio distributor. They bought unbranded Ribbon mics from major companies like Turner and sold them under the name Eastern Sound.
This mic is similar in build to a Turner model 87. It is hefty and built like a tank & best of all it is in good working condition.
Somewhere along the line a modern cord with an XLR connector has been added. The cord has a little wear at the point where it exits the yoke (see close-up), but works great.
The mount at the bottom fits a stand that is larger than standard 5/8". It measures right at about 7/8".
- Tested and working.
- Light-to-moderate cosmetic wear consistent with age.
- See all photos for condition, etc.
