About this listing
Takamine GD30CE-12BLK Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar
The GD30CE-12BLK is a versatile 12-string dreadnought engineered for studio tracking and amplified recording work. Its soft Venetian-style cutaway balances the natural projection of a full dreadnought with player comfort during extended session work, while the slim mahogany neck and responsive fingerboard support precise finger placement and sustained takes. The solid spruce top delivers the resonance and articulation needed to capture definition in a dense mix, making this instrument equally suited to layered arrangements or standalone acoustic tracking.
Tone & Electronics
The solid spruce top paired with okoume back and sides produces a rich, well-articulated tone with excellent note clarity and harmonic separation—critical for distinguishing individual string voices in a 12-string recording. The onboard Takamine TP-4TD preamp system includes a built-in tuner, three-band EQ, and gain controls, allowing you to dial in your amplified tone during tracking and fine-tune your direct signal path without sacrificing the instrument's natural acoustic character.
Build Quality & Playability
Quartersawn X-bracing under the solid spruce top provides structural stability and consistent tonal output across multiple takes, while the mahogany neck and 12"-radius ovangkol fingerboard deliver a comfortable, stable playing surface for accurate performance. A synthetic bone nut, split bridge saddle, and chrome die-cast tuners ensure reliable tuning stability throughout long recording sessions—essential for maintaining phase coherence when layering multiple 12-string passes or overdubs.
