J. Rockett Audio Designs Guthrie Trapp Signature Overdrive

The J. Rockett Guthrie Trapp Signature Overdrive is a boutique overdrive designed in collaboration with renowned Nashville guitarist and session player Guthrie Trapp. Built to deliver a versatile, highly musical drive sound, this pedal can go from a clean boost and light breakup all the way to thick, smooth, sustaining overdrive.

The original Guthrie Trapp Overdrive was developed from J. Rockett’s Chicken Soup circuit, which itself was inspired by the legendary Nobels ODR-1—a longtime favorite among Nashville guitarists. The result is a warm, full-bodied overdrive with excellent dynamics, definition, and a natural amp-like response.

The controls are simple and extremely effective: Level, Gain, and Accent. The Gain control takes the pedal from a nearly clean boost through bluesy and country-style breakup into smooth, saturated lead tones. The Accent control is particularly useful, allowing you to focus the pedal’s frequency response and dial in the sweet spot that works best with your guitar and amplifier.

The pedal has a slightly compressed feel that gives notes excellent sustain while still responding naturally to your picking dynamics. It works especially well with Telecasters and Strats, but its warm, balanced character also pairs beautifully with humbuckers.
