Gallan LPC style guitar model
Made in Japan circa 1975
Aftermarket electronics
Gallan guitars were vintage Japanese "lawsuit-era" instruments manufactured during the 1970s by the Kyowa Shoka, a Nagoya-based trading company founded in 1973. They created the Gallan brand alongside other labels like Fresher and Argus. They used Gallan primarily for Gibson-inspired models, while reserving the Fresher brand mostly for Fender-style copies.
At 50 years old this beauty still rocks. Overall a great find for both the collector or MIJ enthusiast. Great work horse.
- Body: Nice natural relic. Some wear of the finish. I have plugged (wood material) and painted 2 holes from coil split switch mods between the knobs (see picture). Needs perhaps some additional buffing. 7/10
- Neck: No cracks/ repairs. Frets have a lot more mileage left, but could use a shim under the neck joint or a fret polish in the upper 17-22 fret region since there is a fret buzz at A/D strings at 17 fret. Truss rod is tested and works 6/10
- Electronics: "modern" sounding humbuckers with Vol/vol/tone/tone/3 way sw. + a Push pull split coil function on the volume knobs. Input jack all connected with quick connect style wiring. 8/10
- Hardware: Original tuners and bridge. 6/10
- Overall action: Plays great, but could use a fret polish tbh, price is therefore modest.
- Accessories: Black cigarette smelling gig bag (probably seen a lot of clubs hence the smell)
- Shipping: EU only. Free shipping in Sweden. Shipped in double padded cardboard box. For safer and smarter transport you can ask for having the neck taken off for shipping (recommended).
