Condition

The guitar has a history of refretting and renutting. The fingerboard surface also appears to have been leveled or adjusted during this work.

The remaining fret material is relatively low, with some localized wear and dents. The guitar is currently playable as-is, but depending on your playing style, including preferred action, touch, and amount of string bending, a future refret may be worth considering.

Electronics

The Volume and Tone pots appear to be CTS units.

  • Volume Pot: 137-6543
  • Tone Pot: 137-6543

A 3-way lever switch that appears to be made by Oak is installed.

At present, the Volume, Tone, and pickup selector switch operate properly, with no noticeable scratchy noise or significant unwanted noise.

Sound

At its core, this guitar delivers the unmistakable character of a Telecaster.

In the bridge position, it has a fast, highly responsive attack that reacts immediately to your picking, along with an edgy and slightly aggressive high end that gives the guitar plenty of character.

Rather than sounding overly polished, it pushes forward with a sharp and lively response when you dig into the strings, especially when playing chords with more force.

At approximately 4.16 kg, this is a relatively heavy Telecaster. However, when played acoustically, it has a solid and focused response with plenty of low-end thickness in addition to its sharp high end.

The aggressive character of the bridge pickup works particularly well with the overall fullness of the body, creating a good balance between bite and thickness. It offers a different appeal from the lightweight, 1950s-style Telecaster sound.

Rather than simply being a vintage guitar to admire and preserve, this is an instrument that still wants to be played hard and enjoyed as a true player's guitar.

Inspection

We have carefully inspected the instrument, including its manufacturing date, specifications, originality of the components, and any signs of previous repairs or modifications, and have made every effort to provide the most accurate information possible.

However, due to the age and nature of vintage instruments, it is not always possible to determine every detail with complete certainty. Please note that our inspection and assessment cannot be guaranteed as definitive.
